Anise is a member of the family of plants that includes carrots, caraway, cumin, dill, fennel, and cilantro. It has a strong licorice-like flavor and scent, and the essential oil is used to flavor licorice candy. Foods with licorice flavoring often contain anise and not any licorice at all. Anise is also used to flavor liqueurs such as ouzo, anisette, pastis, Pernod, Ricard, anesone, ojen, aguardiente, arrak, kabib, and raki.

Annatto Seeds are small triangular shaped, about 1/2 cm wide, and velvet red with a soft texture.ÊSuggested Use: Annatto works with beans, grains, rices and light meats such as chicken, fish and turkey. It's often used in preparation of vegetables such as okra, plantains, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkin and peppers. Ingredients: Annatto Seed. Arrowroot Powder

SPICES
$27.95 – $93.42
Arrowroot powder is a type of starch that can be used in place of cornflour. It is often used in baking, but is best used to thicken liquids – it's ideal for making clear jellies. Victorians credited arrowroot as having many health benefits, noting that it was very easily digested. Now, we know that while it's not particularly nutritious, it is high in carbohydrates and low in protein (or gluten). It's not a suitable wheat flour substitute for breadmaking, but it adds good flavour to biscuits.
Arrowroot is made from the tuberous roots of a number of South American plants. Any use of ‘arrowroot’ in connection with tapioca or tapioca root is incorrect and misleading.
